Spotlight Leah Kerr

Our Second Sisters spotlight for this month is Leah Kerr! For those of you that dont know, Leah is the head of our service committee in Relief Society. Which means when you have a baby or get sick and needs meals? She does MOST of that work. She had helped me plan funerals and is probably just as important to me and what I do than anyone in my presidency.

If you had a warning label what would yours say?

Warning: I want to be your friend! (Seriously!)

What is something that surprises people about you?

I have multiple sclerosis.

What is your favorite family tradition, past or present?

Annual family Thanksgiving Pie Race. Whoever won got first dibs on their favorite pie. That’s a big deal when you’re one of 7 siblings.

What is an accomplishment you are proud of?

When I make it to church early (even by one minute 🎉).

What are three things you really love?

Cooking, baking, eating. Alternate answer...James, Nora, Franny.

What would you like to do if you had more time?

Going on walks/ hikes with friends

What is a blessing you have received from membership in the church?

Love the peace the temple brings me.

When have you experienced the greatest adrenaline rush?

A friend attached a parachute by a long strap to the back of his truck and we “hang glided” down a farm road. In retrospect it was a really bad idea. Wouldn’t do that again!

What was the hardest class you ever took?

French. Learning a second language does not come easily to me!

If you could have unlimited storage of one thing, what would it be?

Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream

If you guys didn't notice, on our bulletin board each month we are going to feature a recipe. (There is a brown envelope that holds pintable's to take home!) Because feeding people is hard sometimes and its always good to have tried and true yummy things. But for those who aren't going to church to get a printable, we wanted to make sure there are other ways to access them. This months recipe was given to us by the wonderful Leah Kerr, (whom I could not do my calling without.) Just the Start

 Hello Sisters! We have been talking as a Presidency about different ways to reach out to you sisters and connect ourselves as a Relief Society for a while and always just seem to go in circles. Thankfully the Lord has blessed me (and you) with inspired counselors who asked, "Are we really reaching out in every way we can?"  I LOVE to write and I have actually been thinking all of COVID that maybe starting a blog for Relief Society would be a thing I could do, but I got self conscious about how I write, whether people would read it etc. But when my counselor said that I thought, "You know what, this is something I e njoy. And even if writing it only brings ME happiness, that's still a good thing." That said, I don't want to be the only one adding content!
