When You Are Exhausted

Image
I was reading in Come Follow Me this morning and it shared a video called We Can Find Happiness. The video follows the story of three different converts and how they found happiness, strength, and peace through the gospel. And I surprised myself because when it finished I found myself asking, “So what about those who find the church exhausting?” Sometimes it is. You don't have to be appalled. Trying to get kids ready, and yourself ready so you are presentable at church? Then trying to fight with that same family to be quiet during church? Having work, school, home duties, and then to have someone add a calling on top of it- another task for the week. Knowing you need to reach out to other sisters but feeling you can barely reach out to yourself. Maybe you have a husband who isn't strong so when it comes to prayer and scriptures and Family Night it is all. On. you. You are not alone. You are not the only one who feels this way. I had a recent conversation with my sister ...

Let God Prevail

Image
Here are some highlights from todays lesson! Check out your email for the video and click here to view the entire talk. Here is the Link to my video lesson on the talk. Let God Prevail By President Russell M. Nelson President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Imagine my delight when I was led recently to a new insight; that one of the Hebraic meanings of the word Israel is “let God prevail.” 4 Thus the very name of Israel refers to a person who is willing to let God prevail in his or her life. The word willing is crucial to this interpretation of Israel. 5 We all have our agency. We can choose to be of Israel, or not. We can choose to let God prevail in our lives, or not. We can choose to let God be the most powerful influence in our lives, or not. With the Hebraic definition of Israel in mind, we find that the gathering of Israel takes on added meaning. The Lord is gathering those who are willing to let God prevail in their lives. The Lord is gathering t...

Its fun to get to connect things to my tree and my ancestors. And here is how! If you cant view the video the link is here.

Here are some highlights to our 2nd Sunday lesson and a link to the full talk. Check your email for the link to the recording! Sisters In Zion By President Henry B. Eyring Second Counselor in the First Presidency You sisters, will be at the heart of creating that society of people who will join in glorious association with the Savior. You will be an essential force in the gathering of Israel and in the creation of a Zion people who will dwell in peace... Elder McConkie taught: “[Enoch’s] was a day of wickedness and evil, a day of darkness and rebellion, a day of war and desolation, a day leading up to the cleansing of the earth by water. “Enoch, however, was faithful. He ‘saw the Lord,’ and talked with him ‘face to face’ ( Moses 7:4 .) Enoch made covenants and assembled a congregation of true believers, all of whom became so faithful that ‘the Lord came and dwelt with his people, and they dwelt in righteousness,’ ‘And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart an...

Priesthood Study

Image
Reading Come Follow Me a few weeks back, we read about how the Priesthood was restored. I have a son who is "coming of age" in a few years and just felt a real PRESS to learn and understand more about the priesthood. It was funny as I was doing so, because I seemed to forget that I ALSO have three daughters. One who, after I taught a lesson about Priesthood ,asked, "So... what do women do?" Basically, I have been on journey since then to learn all that I can about the priesthood and the Relief Society. And while it is not a normal Relief Society Sunday lesson, I did want to share this talk from Elder Oaks with you because I felt it very eye opening and inspiring. And we can all use a little more of that right? I am just going to share some of my favorite highlights but I will link the full talk here . One quote I found especially needful to hear and understand is as follows:  Whoever exercises priesthood authority should forget about their rights and concentrate on ...

Relief Society Spotlight Ashley Matsuura

I really wanted to do spotlights of all of my presidency first. Not because we are cool (well, most of them are) but because I want you to know who we are! Sometimes its easier to ask for help or to talk to people when you KNOW them.  Relief Society Spotlight   Ashley Matsuura   What is your favorite family tradition, past or present? I'm always trying out new traditions for our family to see which ones I like and want to keep.  When I was young, my parents always had all of us kids sleep in the same room on Christmas Eve.  I loved it! With the winter storm and the stores being out of things like bread, I LOVED all the recipes that were getting passed back and forth for baked goods! Partly because I am half baked good.  The recipe for this month is my absolute favorite, and very easy, bread recipe. I wish I had an actual website to direct you to, but I got this from someone, who got it from someone... and now I'm passing it to you!  The print out of this will be available on the bulletin board at church, and here is the link to the printable that I made so you can print it from home! Julia Child’s White Sandwich Bread Ingredients 2 1/2 cups warm water 1 Tbsp active dry or instant yeast 1 Tbsp sugar 6 - 6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp salt 1/4 cup butter, softened   Directions Pour 1/2 cup of the water into a bowl (preferably that of a stand mixer) and stir in the yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes, until it dissolves- if you're not sure of its age, make sure it gets foamy. (If the yeast doesn't ...
